It's inevitable with a deficit like California's, that cuts will be made. The question is where and how much? Thus, those responsibility for the cuts should make a priority list, they should track how much is already going where, and then start cutting out areas that are not essential to the welfare and future of the State of California. Just on a personal note, I do NOT believe that Education should be near the bottom of our priority list. However, there are other important or essential sectors that we need to keep in mind- Health Care, Welfare and the Judicial System are among them. And raising taxes might be a short fix, but might actually harm the State's efforts in the long run by driving out businesses and deterring emigration/immigration to our State. |
