Objectives:
* Apply strategies for finding cause and effect in a science text.
*Use text marking to identify cause and effect.
*Review strategies for summarizing.
Students will come in and do their question of the day. Hand out the worksheet "Vocabulary 9 "Clozed" Paragraph. Then hand out "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty". Go over page 79 and read page 80. Have them fill in the columns. If there is time left over, they can read "Number the Stars".
3/4 and 5/6
Students do question of the day as they come in. Then, put the Tuesday starter on the overhead. They write their answers on the answer page that was handed out on Monday.
Next, rbooks pages 174-175. Go over the target word "illuminate". Then have them number their paragraphs. Read pages 174-177 with them using oral cloze. (The words that have blue boxes around them you pause, and they say the word.) Go over the columns on pages 174-175 with them.
Rotations:
Group 1- Independent Reading
Group 2 - Small Group - do worksheet "Taking Notes". Have them buddy read "On My Honor" 3/4 and "Rules" 5/6 for each rotation.
